Don’t fancy getting wet?
Enter the WBBC 2012 Bake Off!

Simply slip on the apron and bake up a storm. Bring that layered delight with you on Championship day and let the judges decide – no need to register. Last year's Bake Off winner Gill Butler has politely declined to provide her stunning cake recipe, (pictured above) sighting secret ingredients and such like. However, to get you in the baking mood why not try Sara’s Chocolate Bellyboard Cake below (pictured right).

Sara’s Chocolate Bellyboard Cake

Prep
Put on apron – other clothing optional.
Pre-heat oven to 160º (325ºF), gas mark 3.

Ingredients
7oz Plain Flour
1 tsp Bicarbinate of soda
1 tsp Baking Powder
2 tsp ccoa
5oz Soft Brown Sugar
1 tsp Golden Syrup
1 tsp Malk Extract (secret ingredient)
2 Eggs
1/4 pint vegetable oil
1/4 pint milk

The doing bit
1. Sift dry ingredients into a mixing bowl.
2. Add the syrup, eggs, oil and milk (remove the egg from their shells obviously) and beat thoroughly until smooth.
3. Pour into a greased 9” cake tin and bake for 45-50 minutes.
4. Leave to cool in tin for a few minutes before placing on a wire rack to cool further.
5. Stand back and admire.
